Triumph RRR on Highway 1

sonoma county wire features triumph rrr
If there is a single machine in Triumph’s range that defines its identity, the Speed Triple is it. The Speed Triple was also one of the original production streetfighters, at the edge of the trend of stripping faired sportbikes down to their elemental core.

Ride Nor Cal's Josh Poe explains the finer points of Triumph's RRR which is available for rent at Ride Nor Cal, located in Santa Rosa, California.

The Speed-T’s chassis—supported by supple and beautifully controlled Öhlins suspension at each end (NIX30 fork and TTX36 shock), awesome ABS-assisted Brembo brakes, and Pirelli Supercorsa SP rubber—delivers sublime handling and stopping power and makes the bike just as at home on a racetrack as on the street.

"The first Street Triple was an instant hit, an overnight classic. It was Triumph's best-selling bike over the past 5 years. While the Street Triple has lost a touch of that lofty magic, it is, undoubtedly, easier to hustle on twisty roads."

jenner by the sea
Jenner by the Sea Inn and Eatery is located on Highway 1 along the Northern California Coast just 90 minutes from the San Francisco Bay Area. California Pacific Coast Highway 1 leads you to stretches of unspoiled pristine sands, fascinating tide pools, playful seals, and miles of Bodega Bay hiking trails along the bluffs of the Northern California coastline with all its 15 sandy beaches 20,000 acres of open space land for hiking biking and kayaking. Walk, kayak, or canoe along the Russian River with frolicking seals and hundreds of different birds, take an exhilarating hot air balloon ride, or horseback ride through the majestic hidden grove of giant Redwoods in the beautiful Armstrong State Redwood Reserve. Bodega Head and Jenner are great places to watch the whales during the fall in the spring.

For three decades the Jenner Inn has enjoyed a reputation as an outstanding destination for romantic getaways, honeymoons and weddings, located on the magnificent Sonoma Coast within minutes of America's premier wine country. After 35 years, Jenner Inn is under new ownership! Rooms are being updated and the bar & restaurant are being reborn!

In 1948 the original hotel with its general store, post office (and pool hall) was destroyed by fire. It was replaced by a one-of-a-kind redwood structure with galleon windows, wheel beamed ceilings and solid oak floors, built by Swedish boat builders. It was and still is a favorite stop for abalone divers fishing the rich rocky waters just north of Jenner.

There are two natural vortices of spiritual energy in Jenner. One is a tremendous power produced by the confluence of two great bodies of water, the Russian River and the Pacific Ocean. The other is a hidden place in the Inn's Meadow, where the high hills of the Jenner Gulch converge. Spring-fed Jenner Creek tumbles over huge boulders as it bursts out of the hills, and a meditation bench is perched on a high creek bank above the cascading waters.

Activities abound to fulfill your memorable Coastal getaway. Sonoma Wine Country is home to world-class wines from the Russian River, Dry Creek and Alexander Valleys; many delicious wineries are waiting to be discovered by you. Hikes, Bikes, Swims, Dancing, Meditating and more are here: http://www.jennerinn.com/

Perkins Performance Horses

Perkins Performance Horses sonoma county wire
Shawn Perkins, owner and lead trainer at Perkins Performance Horses, is a third-generation cattle rancher. Having to work horseback on the family ranch from a very young age, horses have always been a “way of life” with Shawn rather than a “part of life.”

Shawn has spent many years working with trainers in reining, reined cow horse, cutting, as well as dressage. His mentors have included national champions Al Dunning, Todd Crawford, and Karl Smith. Over the years, Shawn has amassed a tremendous amount of experience in both training and showing.

In 2012, he became the Ranch Manager of SunDance Ranch in Calistoga CA, where Perkins Performance Horses is currently located. This beautiful facility features a large square cutting pen, lighted arena, round pen, mechanical cows in both arenas, and cattle throughout most of the year. They have a sixteen stall barn (all with runs), fourteen irrigated pastures and four wash racks. Perkins Performance Horses are open year-round to both training and lesson clients.

The Barlow Street Fair

The Barlow is one of the newest, most chic business communities in Sonoma County’s bustling town of Sebastopol. The complex is visually spectacular, and is located in what used to be the Historic Barlow Apple Factory. There’s a rustic feel to the place, thanks to the old warehouse buildings. This same open beauty is reflected on the streets.

Each Thursday during the summer, the Barlow’s sidewalks are lined with vendors selling food, drinks, clothing, crafts, and handmade accessories for all ages.  There’s also a bocce ball court, and fire pits to warm your toes!

The Barlow’s many businesses open their garage-style front doors and offer specials to the fair-goers. Need something fun for the little ones? A bouncy house, as well as a gigantic blow-up slide is set up at every Street Fair. There’s also plenty of room to run and play!

Headlining the show was Jeffrey Halford & The Healers. Halford’s slide playing is raucous, raw and foreboding, and his music has been hailed as some of the best roots rock and country-fried blues to be heard anywhere. His just-released album, Rainmaker, perfectly embodies what Halford and his Healers are all about!

The summer’s not over yet, so make sure you come to the next show on August 28th, and the season closer on September 4th. All concerts are free and open to the public, so bring your friends and enjoy some good food and drink and dance along to some great music!

4th of July Villa Grande Parade

For the most part, Villa Grande is off the map,  which is the way they like it, but once a year on the 4th of July, the good towns people of the greater Villa Grande area, dust off the red, white, and blue bunting and parade around in true patriotic fashion.

Follow Hannah Gart of KarmaTales, as she joins in the parade, now in it's 34th season!

Rich Holmey, the official Villa Grande Orator, reads aloud the declaration of independence.

Reberto Esteves and Kyla Brooke were the Masters of Music and welcomed everyone to join the Hubbub Club Band, with kazoos generously donated by Villa Grande.
4th of july villa grand on sonoma county wire Jon
Last but not least, Jon Box, official Villa Grande Cannoneer made sure that the no one forget that it was the 4th by setting off a very small, but extremely loud little cannon.

Every year on July 4th at 4:30 p.m. the villagers assemble in the Villa Grande town square. Excerpts of the Declaration of Independence are read and then the citizens parade through the town, playing kazoos and singing patriotic songs. The procession stops at the old Villa Grande Hotel for more singing, dance performances and the Children’s Kazoo Chorus. Next, the parade repairs to the Villa Grande beach where a cannon is fired in recognition of the struggle for independence.

This delightful event originated in the early 1900s and was revived and embellished by Wyman Spaulding in the late 1970’s. The tradition is now perpetuated by Friends of Villa Grande.

Seals and Sea Lions at Goat Rock

The Russian River, with its mouth at the north end of Goat Rock Beach, is Sonoma County's largest watercourse, both in flow rate and lineal extent. Immediately beyond the Russian River discharge to the Pacific Ocean is the coastal town of Jenner. Goat Rock protrudes into the Pacific at the south end of Goat Rock Beach. There are three distinct habitats present at Goat Rock Beach, including marine, littoral zone and coastal prairie. The marine environment presents gray whales, harbor seals and California sea lions as well as a multitude of fish species.

This video was shot and edited for the Youtube Channel SonomaCountyWire, an online video magazine dedicated to the Art, the Business, the fun things to do in Sonoma County. If you've visited Sonoma County without seeing some seals, you've done something wrong. When you do see them, keep your distance, especially when the little pups are finding their flippers. The adult seals are very shy and they will leave their babies if you bother them. Please be respectful of all our beautiful nature.
