HANNAH - From Below, live at Jenner By the Sea

Echoing the sounds of the Nordic coast and urban dance halls, cinematic sonic bass producer/violinist HANNAH blends folk songs and improvised instrumental/vocal music with cutting edge electronic sounds, counting Massive Attack, Phaeleh, Trentemøller, and Ólafur Arnalds as influences in crafting her sound. The resulting sonic palate takes listeners on “a kind of mystical journey” (PopMatters), whose destination is a crossroads between classical and contemporary, organic and man-made, familiar and mysterious.

HANNAH is also deep in the yoga/music scene, and performs her original orchestral and intuitive scores at numerous yoga festivals and studios around the world, including US and Canadian Wanderlust Festivals, collaborating with lauded teachers Elena Brower, Seane Corn, Eoin Finn, Shiva Rea, Schuyler Grant, Aarona Pichinson, and many others.

She plays both an acoustic and a five-string electric violin, accompanied by her original electronic scores. HANNAH’s sound and performances meld and blur genres in relentlessly inventive ways, creating a riveting sonic experience that is undeniable in its sincerity and refreshing in its originality.

The Barlow Street Fair

The Barlow is one of the newest, most chic business communities in Sonoma County’s bustling town of Sebastopol. The complex is visually spectacular, and is located in what used to be the Historic Barlow Apple Factory. There’s a rustic feel to the place, thanks to the old warehouse buildings. This same open beauty is reflected on the streets.

Each Thursday during the summer, the Barlow’s sidewalks are lined with vendors selling food, drinks, clothing, crafts, and handmade accessories for all ages.  There’s also a bocce ball court, and fire pits to warm your toes!

The Barlow’s many businesses open their garage-style front doors and offer specials to the fair-goers. Need something fun for the little ones? A bouncy house, as well as a gigantic blow-up slide is set up at every Street Fair. There’s also plenty of room to run and play!

Come do some shopping, enjoy great food, meet up with your friends over a beer or glass of wine, and dance. There are two stages of live music and entertainment, live music from local bands, all pumped through the Barlow’s amazing sound system. And it’s all free!

Krush Backyard Concert

Hannah Gart, for Sonoma County Wire hosts the KRUSH Backyard Concert at the Wine Country Radio Headquarters in Santa Rosa.

The show featured two bands: Jeffrey Halford & The Healers and the Tazmanian Devils.

The Tasmanian Devils, first up this evening, started playing together in the mid-60’s and are approaching their 50-year anniversary. Their unique blend of rock and reggae with blues and gospel have always set them apart from everyone else. Make sure to pick up their newest album, Taz Nuvoux.

Headlining the show was Jeffrey Halford & The Healers. Halford’s slide playing is raucous, raw and foreboding, and his music has been hailed as some of the best roots rock and country-fried blues to be heard anywhere. His just-released album, Rainmaker, perfectly embodies what Halford and his Healers are all about!

The summer’s not over yet, so make sure you come to the next show on August 28th, and the season closer on September 4th. All concerts are free and open to the public, so bring your friends and enjoy some good food and drink and dance along to some great music!

Good Moon Wolf at Barley and Hops

Jesse Tibbits, and Stefan Johnson make up the newly formed, Good Moon Wolf band. These two singer/songwriters found a common chord here along the Russian River, and have been sharing their music in intimate performances, like this one, at Barley and Hops in Occidental.

Recently featured on KGGV-LP 95.1 FM "The Bridge," Good Moon Wolf is delivering new melodies and original songwriting right here in Sonoma County. If you catch one of their shows you will also hear classic covers, like Jimi's, The Wind Cries Mary which was filmed at Barley and Hops from the hip with available light and sound. It is grainy but the chemistry and quality of Good Moon Wolf shines through.

SCW Films Home Concert

What is a Home Concert? Wikipedia has it at: "A house concert or home concert is a musical concert or performance art that is presented in someone's home or apartment, or a nearby small private space such as a barn, apartment rec room, lawn, or back yard."

There are no ticket sales, but donations to the artists are greatly appreciated, and you can usually find a CD for sale. This simple venue model is supported by people donating a place for people to gather and listen, and the artist, who sometimes drive many miles to do these home concerts. 

This home concert happened at Chanselor Ranch, just north of Bodega Bay.

Whiskey & Circumstance

When Evan Wiig is not out trying to save the Universe and the farmers who dwell there, you might find him sipping on some brown liqueur, and banging out some blues with his band, Whiskey and Circumstance.

This performance of their namesake song was filmed on location at GreenValley Village to commemorate the nuptials of Mr. and Mrs. Billygoat, who are still together today.

Accompanying Evan Wiig on stage was Jesse Hanna playing the drums, Katrina Coffman is on the Sax, and Gil Benmoshe was rockin the base.
